Jazz Dance Party with Jan Emil Młynarski and the “Melody and Rhythm” Dance Orchestra
An intergenerational jazz dance party with Jan Emil Młynarski and the “Melody and Rhythm” Dance Orchestra will transport participants to post-war Warsaw of the 1940s, when music resounded among the ruins, becoming a source of strength, joy, and hope for the rebuilding city. The artists reach back to the traditions of pre-war and post-war dancing, swing orchestras, and urban hits, bringing back the sounds that accompanied Varsovians in the moments of rebuilding everyday life. The repertoire will also include exceptional post-war arrangements, including the rarely performed 1945 tango “We are walking along Nowy Świat again”, telling the story of returns to the beloved streets of the reviving capital. The dance refers to the phenomenon of Warsaw dancing and joint celebration of the city—a tradition that has remained one of the most vivid manifestations of the capital’s culture for generations.
