Decorative metalwork and blacksmithing in Warsaw’s New Town
One of the less obvious phenomena of Old and New Warsaw is metalwork and blacksmithing—applied arts that generally go almost unnoticed on a daily basis, and at the same time are rarely the subject of dedicated studies. The meeting, prepared and hosted by Tomasz Lec, offers a unique opportunity to explore their value and history—from semaphore signs, through window grates, to door fittings. Attention will be focused on the details passed along the route from Długa Street to Zakroczymska Street, and participants will also have the opportunity to engage directly with examples of medieval blacksmithing and modernist metalwork.
