Raising from Ruins. Walking in the Footsteps of the Work of the Warsaw Reconstruction Office

A walk through Warsaw’s Old Town with Cezary Berzyński from the State Archives in Warsaw will recall one of the most remarkable phenomena in the history of the Old Town—the process of its postwar reconstruction. Participants will walk through the streets of the Old Town, whose postwar buildings first emerged on paper, drawn by the architects of the Warsaw Reconstruction Office, only to be later rebuilt brick by brick. During the walk, the figures of the creators of the current shape of the Old Town will be recalled, including Prof. Jan Zachwatowicz, and the stories will be accompanied by a presentation of copies of archival documents from the Warsaw Reconstruction Office, sourced from the State Archives in Warsaw.
