Public Library in the City of Warsaw’s Śródmieście District

Public Library in the City of Warsaw’s Śródmieście District is an independent unit in the form of a local government culture institution, serving to develop and meet the reading needs of the entire community of Warsaw. Aside from collecting, cataloguing, and making collections available, its primary tasks include promoting books and reading. The Library consists of branches scattered throughout the Śródmieście District: No. VII Academic Reading Room, 16 loans libraries for adults and youth, 10 libraries for children, a Book Sets Loans Library, and the ‘Order by Phone’ Department. The Library’s mission includes developing and satisfying the reading needs of the residents of the Śródmieście District and the Capital City of Warsaw, spreading knowledge and cultural development, providing readers with access to all kinds of information, creating suitable conditions, and strengthening reading habits among children from an early age.
