Kataryniarz Jan

In the 19th century, there were more organ grinders in Warsaw than streets. They were an integral part of the urban landscape, and their music accompanied daily lives of the Varsovians. After the destruction of World War II and the reconstruction of the Old Town, it was decided to restore this unique element of urban tradition to breathe the spirit of old Warsaw into the new walls. Organ grinder Jan, continuing the work of his predecessors, evokes memories of a city that no longer exists.
