Warsaw District of the Association of Polish Art Photographers

The Association is the largest organization in Poland bringing together artists who treat photography as a medium of creative expression. Established in 1947, it continues the traditions of the prewar Polish Photo Club, which included the most distinguished artists of interwar Poland. Following World War II, it was these very artists, led by Jan Bułhak, who founded the Polish Art Photographers’ Association (ZPAF). Our association has been home to Poland's foremost art photographers, among them: Jan Bułhak, Benedykt Jerzy Dorys, Tadeusz Wański, Jan Sunderland, Edward Hartwig, Zofia Rydet, Zbigniew Dłubak, Wiesław Prażuch, Zbigniew Łagocki, Jerzy Lewczyński, and Tadeusz Rolke. The ZPAF cultivates a tradition of diverse creative interests. Among the current members of the organization, one can find artists from many generations and representatives of the most varied artistic movements—from classical photography to the extreme avant-garde. Organized into thirteen regional Districts, the Association currently unites nearly seven hundred photographers working in Poland and abroad.
