We invite you on July 17–18, 2026, to jointly celebrate the rebuilding of a place where history meets everyday life.

Come and discover another side of the Old Town – the one that cannot be seen on postcards nor in tourist folders. Enter deeper, beyond the marked routes. Warsaw’s Old Town is a living, breathing organism and – let’s say it loudly! – the most beautiful residential estate in the capital.

The Old Town – the Phenomenon of the Rebuilding of Warsaw

The rebuilding of the former Old Town was a huge social surge, and various social groups engaged in it: workers, teachers, artists. Everyone built it and for everyone. The walls that you pass by today bear the fingerprints of craftsmen from all over Poland and are built from surviving bricks brought from various corners of the country. It is exactly this exceptional act of solidarity and the taking up by the people of an almost impossible challenge that convinced UNESCO, giving Warsaw in 1980 an entry on the World Heritage List.

Meet Your Neighbors

In the Old Town operate many cultural institutions, which on these days will invite Varsovians to various events. In this edition, we propose additionally immersing oneself into the parallel, local perspective of the persons functioning in this part of the capital. We will be encouraging looking into the courtyards, visiting the local artistic studios, and getting to know the residents for whom the Old Town is simply a home and a place of everyday bustling about. It is they who give this place an authentic rhythm. It is they who jointly with the Old Town institutions are preparing the birthday events.
